Final essay The research that I conducted this semester focused on the Second Amendment and whether or not it should eliminate. Essay one, The Rights to Bear Arms explains citizens have the right to rebel against a tyrannical government by using guns for self-defense, and the gun owner shouldn t deprive of something they love because other people abuse it. Essay two â€Å"Gun control† argue that the Second Amendment should eliminate because it increased the potential for crimes and the number of accidental gun deaths, creates an unsafe environment, and legally owned guns are frequently stolen and used by criminals. Although both essays relied on academic research, they are not concise enough to the point and confuse the reader.†¦show more content†¦All of the research paper must have reliable sources to prove the thesis that the writer stated in the essay. Why should we use credible sources when writing a research paper? A research paper is like a jury trial. If youà ¢â‚¬â„¢re an attorney trying to convince the jury your client is innocent, you need hard evidence. For example: When you try to convince a jury that your client is innocent by telling them he wasn t at the crime scene, and you can prove it because his best friend said he wasn t there. It isn t going to work. Now conversely, when you try to convince the jury that your client is innocent because he was out of town when the crime happened. You have a hotel receipt, plane tickets, and video evidence that he was nowhere near the area at the time of the offense. That evidence is much more credible and convincing. Writing a research paper is contrasted with the jury trial, we need strong evidence to support our statement. Even though both essays have evidence to support the statement, but all the source of evidence is reliable. How can we tell if a source is credible? Some ways can tell if the source is credible which you can look for author, publisher, bias and the date to determine wheth er a source you’re using is reliable.
